Hi, I’m Andra (pronounced On-Dra). I make original content and original music for people to learn from and relax too. I also write this substack. My aim is to be a resting place, a source of inspiration and a place to form connections for people who work hard. What keeps most successful people motivated is oftentimes a routine that integrates self care, learning and relaxation. I hope my music and videos becomes a part of people routine.
I produce a series of factoids called “Explorations” which runs quarterly and dives into the history behind music by women. The intent is to further common knowledge of women in music, and also spark inspiration in musicians and artist looking for strategies that are tried and true.It the most popular thing on my YouTube channel.
Here are some popular episodes that might peak your interest:
Toni Braxton’s solo debut of the same name
Solange (Double Feature) “A Seat At The Table” and “When I Get Home”
Whitney Houston “My Love is Your Love”
Sade “Soldier of Love”
You can also find every last episode on my website andradaniellelee.com
Another thing I’ve been working on but for a lifetime is original music. I always have a project in the works and publish music on an as it makes sense basis. A fairly complete catalog of my work in on bandcamp and a smaller selection of my work lives on streaming platforms under the name Andra Lee.
My beatttape “Please Understand Me” is the most recent thing to hit streaming. It’s a fun selection of spring/summer feeling instrumentals, all parts played by me on the midi keyboard.
I recently travelled to Savannah, Georgia and had a great time. Daffin Park was where I spent the chunks of time I carved out for myself. A walk around the beautiful park with its many sections for all sort of activities was restorative. I do recall thinking, “Hot are people running in this heat” but I guess you get used to it. We went to Savannah City Market which was a small market with art by local painters and photographers also a dog treat shop called Woof Gang and a candy store with something for everyone. We also visited SCAD Museum of Art which was a highlight of my trip. I was really touched by the ‘soundbath’ designed by Jonsi which featured music and lights and a signature scent by the artist… I cried.
I also was given the utmost of southern hospitality by our hosts who went shrimping just to supply us with the freshest prawns you could ever feast on. We ate dozens of oysters and had a first taste of gator tail. The alligator meat was marinated with orange juice, creole seasoning and garlic. I later discovered it’s an extremely lean source of protein with 3oz loaded with 46g of protein. That being said I’d eat it again.
Me and my parents and sister on the river.
Savannah is known for the Spanish Moss that grows on trees. It looks so majestic.
That’s what’s been up with me these past few months, I just felt like sharing a little more about me with you in addition to the monthly roundup.
Hope ya’ll are well.
Big Love
Andra
