New Year 2024
Good Day to you Everyone,
Ahhhhh, smell that? That New Year smell?
Here in Rhode Island, it means there’s a chill in the air that goes straight to your nose, it’s overcast and the POV seems tinted a sort of blue.
I saw a post by Zazie Beetz on Instagram that read:
“Don’t let the 31st of December or 1st of January stress y’all out, friends. Every day is a new year. Every moment is. If it’s cold where you are, maybe you can hibernate and keep warm. Manifest every new thing in your own time or save it for the spring when every other living thing decides to bloom, too.”
I like the idea of storing some of that NYE energy for the spring. What a gentle and nuanced approach to making your wishes come true. Maybe, take the first quarter of the year as a period of restoration and meditate on your wishes, dreams, and desires while you “hibernate” as Beetz says.

Patiently awaiting my first i-D and Popeye magazines that recently shipped! Also, Ghetto Gastro’s Black Power Kitchen is on the way.
Currently, however, I’m reading When Women Ruled the World by Kara Cooney which describes the practice of regency in Egypt’s early dynasties. Did you know that in Dynasty 1 when Pharaohs died, they would sacrifice important officials, threats to the throne, wives they loved, etc… with them? The number of people sacrificed often was over 400 people. These people willingly gave their lives to support a thriving nation. I guess you had to be there cause that’s bananas to me from my modern POV. Being friends with a King guaranteed leaving this earth when the Pharaoh died. Lots of ancient cultures had beliefs that involved human sacrifice… anyway great book. I’m a nerd.

Ice cream with espresso poured over is hella decadent for a regular day but a great treat. I was also really inspired by the cellulose doilies. I want to overdo it with the branding in my listening bar. It’s $900 per 10,000 of these. lol… already started the research.
