RWA Weekly Roundup #0013
Good Day To You Everyone,
It’s another RWA Weekly Roundup. The 13th edition in fact.
This week uploaded 2 Unscripted Episodes of the podcast. This was just one of those weeks (during Mercury Retrograde) where everything was NOT going according to plan.
I really had to exercise patience and, I asked myself to keep trying at something even if it looked like I might be disappointed by the results. But I learned that everything is in its proper place, and when you try, try, try sometimes something gives and comes through even better than expected. I’ve never allowed myself to be this patient and trust the process but, it’s paying off.
To anyone who is an artist, which these days means you’re a brand/business too –– I just want to tell you that while it IS challenging, you gotta keep going. And I don’t mean that you should be overworking yourself in that way Americans are so good at. No, I mean that you should strive to continue and nurture something for the long term. You should expect that you may also be broke sometimes–– or that things might seem like they aren’t going well for you –– or that you haven’t been discovered by “enough” people yet. But think about it like this, every day you are adding to the record of your existence, and the more records there are of your work, creations and thoughts the better… for us all. At least that’s what I think.
Here are this week’s unscripted episodes, if you haven’t heard them yet please take the time to listen. The vibe is very different from my usual. I script almost every show –– and going unscripted felt uncomfortable at first and then got much easier with practice.
Today (Friday May, 20, 2022) I had some brief conversations with friends from other places all of which are going through some shifts in their life. Shifts that are asking them to transition or say no to energy that makes them stressed out. And I am praying for these friends of mine. I just want us all to feel like we can handle it all, like we can take on our bad days, like we are blessed with lighter days. Overall I get the sense that people believe in themselves and I love that for us. Remember sometimes what you say no to can be as powerful as what you say yes too. Or even better sometimes saying no is saying yes to yourself.
I’ve been doing a Friday film recommendation every week on Instagram. Last weeks film rec. was Phantom Thread this week’s film rec is a spike lee joint Chi-raq –– This movie is very different than the normal spike lee joint a lot of the movie is in rhyme and feels like a spoken word piece. I think this picture is relevant for the times and if you haven’t seen it I hope you enjoy it.
That’s all I’ve got for you this week.
See you next week!
Big Love, Ra
